Description
The lack of hotels and guesthouses on this stage force a long distance ride. There is an option to cut the route in two if you accept spending the night at Lyantonde, at around the 40 kilometer point. The trail from Lake Mburo to Lyantonde is on easy wide dirt roads, but also adventurous single tracks that can be overgrown. Especially the connection to Lyantonde can be muddy and flooded in the rainy season. After Lyontonde the trail consists of merely wide murram roads passing through pristine small villages. The many steep climbs can be quite strenuous.

Tips
If you want to visit the national park you need to have a permit. This can be bought in Kampala at the UWA offices, but also at the gate with mobile money (no cash!). It can also pay off to call in advance that you want to cycle through the park and need a (required) ranger. Expect tyre punctures because of the many acacia thorns. Make sure to have tubeless tyres or bring a patch kit and several spare tubes.
