The ride from Kisoro is a beautiful one but contains quite some climbing metres. The first part is on tarmac so make sure to be aware of other (heavy) traffic road users. Fortunately there is not so much traffic on this very smooth road. At the 40km point at Muko there is a nice restaurant with a magnificent view over Lake Bunyonyi, loosely translated as “Place of many little birds”. You could actually take a boat and finish the last stretch on the deepest lake of Uganda. If you choose to continue cycling, then follow the unpaved road that runs parallel to the shore of the lake. This section to the endpoint is definitely rideable, but can be challenging because of the climbs and sometimes technical rocky sections.

This lodge might be one of the best places in the area as they offer a really unique stay in their geo domes, thatched huts that are semi-open and offer a view of Lake Bunyonyi. Note: the lodge can only be reached by boat, which can be arranged.

A perfect location to experience the sweet breeze of lake Bunyonyi and enjoy both beautiful; sunset and sunrise views. Make sure you carry an extra sweater as the Bunyonyi area can be slightly chilly at night.
Birdnest Bunyonyi resort is seen by many as the best (luxury) accommodation in the area with a breathtaking view overlooking the lake. The accommodation has an excellent restaurant that serves both local and international dishes. It even as a pool to cool down and relax your muscles after a long ride.
